DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 23
Lessons to Master Your Money, Career, Health & Relationships.

We’re on Day 23 of the 30 Day Challenge! Welcome to the last stretch of the 30 Day Challenge!  Keep going, you’re doing great! If you’re just joining us, welcome to you too! Jump in!

Would you rather clean public toilets that speak in public? Today you’ll learn some tried-and-true tricks to not just survive but thrive during your public speaking adventures! We all have to speak to a group at some point in our lives – whether it’s at church, at a PTA meeting, at the office or at a business networking event. Luckily, you don’t have to be born with the gift of public speaking. It is a skill that can be learned and over time, mastered.

The first time I had to speak in front of people was at my church around 5 years ago– there were about 150 people at the time and it was a simple announcement that I had to make.  I was terrified of public speaking but I’m generally a courageous person, so I went anyway! Boy, after my 2 minutes of speaking I felt physically ill! My stomach was in knots and I could hardly breathe!  I was determined to master this skill because I knew there was no way to get around it if I were to achieve my full potential so I threw myself into events where I had to speak to groups.  I did cooking shows, networking, workshops, even videotaped myself and practiced in front of the mirror (*shudder*)!

After years of doing a combination of all those things during the last 5 years, I still have that adrenaline and nervousness, but no more of the debilitating pain that came after that first time up!  So I want to encourage you with that. Practice makes better so embrace the process. What’s the worst that could happen? You end up sucking. So what? Will you die? Will people throw tomatoes at you? No. You will review what you’ve done and try a brand new approach or refine your skills and get better!

DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 21
Lessons to Master Your Money, Career, Health & Relationships.

“Life is a gift, don’t trash it.” John Alston

We’re on Day 21 of the 30 Day Challenge! For those of you who have been following this series for a while now, you’ll notice that the concepts presented in these daily lessons are not complicated. The simplest lessons are often the most profound. So catch yourself  whenever you exhibit the “I already know that” syndrome. There’s a difference between what you know and what you do.   Remember the slight edge? These things are easy to do, but they’re also easy not to do – so consistency is key; in following this series and also applying the principles in your life.  If you are just joining us today, welcome! Each day is on a different topic so feel free to jump in!

What are you grateful for today? In our pursuit for “more” we tend to overlook what we already have. Today’s lesson is about developing your attitude and honing it to being one of gratitude and service.  Featured speaker John Alston gives a fresh perspective on how we view our lives and how we all have a “rudder and a compass” to guide us along our path.   Enjoy and have a day full of gratitude and love!

~Michael Leunig

We’re on Day 20 of the 30 Day Challenge! We are at the 2/3 mark of the 30 Day Challenge!  It’s still impacting me in new ways even though this is my third time doing this series. I hope it is impacting you as well!  If you are just joining us today, welcome! Each day is on a different topic so feel free to jump in!

Have you been searching for your life purpose? Consider today’s lesson as you continue to figure it out. It needs to be the founding element to any life purpose.

Today we are going to learn about the simplest yet the hardest thing to implement in our lives to make it full of purpose, joy, peace and happiness. Love. It’s easy to love people we like and who like us. It’s easier to show love to people who fit into our concept of what a “good” person is. But what about trying to love that difficult co-worker, or the problem child or that annoying neighbour?

The following videos will give us some insights and tips on how we can walk in love each and every day. Enjoy!

Do you have a written down vision for your life?   Do you know what you want more of and less of in your life?  After we graduate from school we tend to race through life: get a job, get married, start a family, get that promotion, start that business, retire, travel....  Have you stopped lately to take stock of where you’re at and if you’re happy with how your life is now?

Tom Wood provided some great questions that I’ve listed below in the coaching corner for you to answer after you’ve watched today’s videos. It’s important to write the answers to these questions down TODAY. It’s part of creating your life & work vision. Knowing your vision will create meaning to your daily activities and challenges.

I am currently developing a “Life Check Up” exercise for everyone to take who’s following my blog so if you’re interested in receiving this for FREE, please email me at: iris@irisking.ca and put in the subject line: “Life Check Up” and I will send it to you once it is available!

DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 17
Lessons to Master Your Money, Career, Health & Relationships.

“There is a diamond mine in your diamond mind.” –Dr. Denis Waitely

We’re on Day 17 of the 30 Day Challenge! I hope you are enjoying this series so far! If you are just joining us today, welcome! Each day is on a different topic so feel free to jump in!

Has anyone ever said to you: “I see world class potential in you.”?  It doesn’t have to be those exact words but something similar? For me, around 8-10 years back, people spoke into my life and said: “You are so efficient!” “You are the next Oprah.” “You are the next Martha Stewart.”  Words can have such an impact in our lives, especially if spoken with the intention to encourage and empower.

For those of you who did not have anyone tell you that they see greatness within you, or even worst, was told the opposite, don’t wait for that before you start seeing it in yourself. I can tell you without even meeting you that you have world class potential in you, that you have greatness within you. We all do. So if you need someone else to tell you that, go in front of a mirror and say it to yourself! I see world class potential in you. You can even wink at yourself if you want to. ;P  My point is, don’t wait. There was a point in my life where I had to encourage myself and build my self-esteem through daily positive self-talk.

Today you’re going to learn about how self-esteem is one of the key factors that determine whether you experience success or not. Do you have a winning mindset?  The videos will help give you tools and the language to create one!

To your success!

DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 16
Lessons to Master Your Money, Career, Health & Relationships.

We’re on Day 16 of the 30 Day Challenge! You are more than half way through this 30 Day Challenge! Way to go!  I hope you have been applying these principles daily and have been stretching and challenging yourself! If you are just joining us today, welcome! Each day is on a different topic so feel free to jump in!

Today Tom Wood and Darren Hardy are going to share the ultimate secrets to getting the most out of your exercise! Before we go further, I want you to stop reading, stand up and do some stretches. Yes, you read right!  I want your blood pumping, I want you to feel your body and start showing your body you care. J Give yourself a big’ol hug while you’re at it!

Last night I went to a health seminar called Maximized Living and we were given a choice:

 OR

Retire and enjoy trips on a cruise ship or be sick in a nursing home? That was the choice presented to us last night. Wow. That hit me so hard. I consider myself very conscientious but I realized I really need to kick it up a notch if I want to live a happy healthy life.   I’m not promoting the company Maximized Living by the way, I have to read up more about them, but I just wanted to share with you that visual that impacted me. Whichever life we end up with is the result of our daily decisions.

Phew, that was a little heavy eh? Our health is a serious matter, but let’s have fun in the process of taking care of ourselves! Enjoy the videos below and learn the simple basics and secrets on how you can live a healthy life!

DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 15
Lessons to Master Your Money, Career, Health & Relationships.

We’re on Day 15 of the 30 Day Challenge! Today might be one of the most important videos yet! If you are just joining us today, welcome! Each day is on a different topic so feel free to jump in!

If I were to ask you to rate your health from 1 to 10, 1 being far from ideal and 10 being ideal, what would you rate it? If it’s not ideal, what are you currently doing to improve that rating? Do you want to make changes but are confused about where to start and how to choose which combination of diet, exercise and nutrition works for you?

Today’s video is by Darren Hardy and he explains his no-nonsense approach to nutrition. He boils everything down to the basics in a way we can all understand. Health is wealth as they say, so please make time to watch this video.

If you think back about the last time you had a bad cold or were out of commission due to a health problem, how effective were you in life? Probably not that effective, and yet a lot of us put our work, our families, our community groups over taking care of our health. Our bodies are often the last to get attention but it should be the first. I hope you get some useful tips from this video that you can implement right away! Enjoy!

DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 14
Lessons to Master Your Money, Career, Health & Relationships.

Happy Monday! We’re on Day 14 of the 30 Day Challenge! And what a video we have to start the week off! If you are just joining us today, welcome! Each day is on a different topic so feel free to jump in!

What were the first thoughts you had this Monday morning? Was it: “Oh boy! It’s Monday! It’s a brand new day, a new week with all its glorious possibilities!”?  No judgement is being passed if it wasn’t, and one can be positive without being Perky Polly over there,  but this was a quick way to do an “attitude check up” and what better day to do it than on a Monday morning!

Our attitude is the key thing that determines how we experience life. Even if we are so blessed, with a bad attitude, nothing is good enough and everything is always going wrong and people are always treating us unfairly.   My husband and I are parents to three kids and if there was one message we hope they remember from us is that it is essential to have a good attitude. We even put importance on that over getting good grades. There’s no point being great at something when you have a bad attitude.

When things are going wrong, or relationships at work or at home aren’t going so well, do you ever check your attitude as one of the key players in the equation? Do you have a good attitude or do you have stinkin’ thinkin’?  Today’s topic on attitude is so important that the whole video showcases the great Zig Ziglar and his story about a negative Nel he helped recover from her bad attitude.

Today’s topic may hit home to some of you and make you realize a few things, but I hope you take it to heart and really make necessary changes if you need to because you will benefit from it and those around you get to experience you in the way you were naturally made: uniquely wonderful with a set of strengths to bring to the table. Enjoy!

COACHING CORNER:

·         If you feel your attitude can use a little tweak, what are some ways you can create more awareness and make the necessary changes? Are there any tips from the video you can try?

·         Do you know anyone with stinkin’ thinkin’ who you can lovingly forward this to so that you can help this person live a more happy life?

DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 13
Lessons to Master Your Money, Career, Health & Relationships.

It’s Friday the 13th! Well, Day 13 of the 30 Day Challenge that is! Welcome back, let’s get started! If you are just joining us today, welcome! Each day is on a different topic so feel free to jump in!

Today we are going to learn about how to read people. Tom wood and Dr. Tony Alessandra are going to show you some very tangible ways to know how a person is feeling at a given time depending on their body language, facial expressions, vocal tones and what they say.

Learning these cues will help you design your conversations  so that you are communicating effectively and get your point across in the way that the person will understand.  Learning this skill will also teach you on how you are currently communicating with others.

Have fun with this and make sure you check out the coaching portion below to think about ways on how to apply this in your life!  Have a marvellous week-end!

DAY CHALLENGE: DAY 12
Lessons to Master Your Money, Career, Health & Relationships.

Welcome to Day 12 of the 30 Day Challenge! I hope that by now you’ve created some momentum and see the potential of how these daily lessons can impact your life in a big way. If you are just joining us today, welcome! Each day is on a different topic so feel free to jump in!

Today we are going to learn about the Secrets of Negotiation. Some of you may hear the word negotiation and think it’s only for business application, but you need this skill to negotiate with people like your landlord, your kids, and your boss.

I coached someone recently to negotiate her salary and I made sure that she considered and used the very techniques mentioned in this video to effectively prepare herself for her yearly salary review. I’m happy to report she got very positive results and I believe her boss also won which is one of the keys to negotiating – you need to create a win-win situation.

Enjoy learning this important skill! See you tomorrow!
